Hidden security cameras – Spy cameras
Reports reveal that goods worth thousands of dollars are stolen every day from convenience stores. Airports have hijackers and terrorists moving through them without being noticed. Casinos with high cash flows lose a lot of money, which is never accounted for. Banks have people carrying huge amounts of cash to and from them. Add to this the need to track missing children, operating high-risk amusement park rides, monitoring heavy machines where people can be harmed by the machine operation. The need for a security system in these places and even at home of late is undeniable.
Picture this. You walk into a huge convenient store and are picking up things that you have on your to-buy list. You find yourself on a TV screen and realize there is a spy camera watching you. To keep a few shoplifters who may visit the store at bay, everybody is under a scan. Ironically, shoplifters will be too smart to make their move when the spy camera is so in the face. The closed-circuit television system, which has been used as a standard security measure for many years, has two major disadvantages – it is expensive to deploy and has limited capabilities. This led to the development of hidden security cameras, which do not have these limitations. They are economical, advanced, and most importantly can be disguised or hidden in another object. These are digital cameras with high resolution and high speed and can be concealed in smoke detectors, clocks, ceiling tiles etc. This offers a dual advantage – regular shoppers are not offended by the knowledge of being ‘spied upon,’ and offending shoplifters are caught in the act. Furthermore, if you find someone acting suspicious, the person can be tracked in the store for some time and caught red-handed.
Airports use hidden security cameras to a large extent. The recent major acts of terrorism like the 9/11 have made nations realize that security at airports needs to be beefed up. Highly advanced hidden security cameras are used in all airports, perhaps to a greater extent in the busier ones.
Hidden spy camerasare also handy for home security and office security purposes. They can be wired or wireless models, used in day or night, and provide colorless or colored images. Manufacturers produce hidden security cameras in different shapes and sizes to make them as disguisable as possible. Of course, the type chosen would depend on the place to be monitored. A tiny hidden spy camera may be as small as 1 inch x 1 inch with a ¼ inch lens, meeting two main criteria – being small and easy to hide.
