Dome Camera

Dome Camera

A dome camera is really desgined to be mounted with the dome facing down, making it ideal for ceilings and outdoor overhangs.  This gives the dome camera an excellent field of view while still keeping it protected.  A dome camera is a small electronic board camera mounted under a clear or smoke-colored plastic dome.  Some dome cameras  have  a high-impact plastic dome, making them difficult to disable with a hammer.

Dome cameras are available that can “see in the dark”, literally.  They use infrared leds to illuminate an area, and since the camera is sensitive to infrared light, the cameras can record images in light that appears totally dark to the human eye.  Also, some dome cameras are automatic day/night cameras – they operate in color during the day and switch to black and white at night when there is less available light.  For more information on the dome camera.
